Ways to Treat Leukemia

Leukemia is a kind of cancer of the blood or bone marrow wherein there is an abnormal increase of immature white blood cells and anyone can be diagnosed with such illness. The good news is that today’s technology allows medical professionals to treat it through the following methods:

Bone Marrow Transplant: This is perhaps the most effective method in treating a person afflicted with leukemia. This is done after the patient’s body has been cleaned of the cancer cells and other infections through the use of intensive radiation. Afterwards, the patient is implanted with normal blood-forming cells which helps reconstruct the damage cells of the patient.

• Chemotherapy: This is used to counteract the advance stages of leukemia. This is initially done before conducting a bone marrow transplant wherein the intensive radiation is aimed to destroy the leukemia cells which are multiplying within the body. This allows the body’s bone-marrow to regain its standard blood-forming functions.

Western and Chinese Medicine: Not all individuals favor this option however; experts have proven that combining the two world’s expertise in ridding a patient of the illness is effective. Though chemotherapy and biotherapy may be harmful to the patient’s body, Chinese medicine helps counteract the negative effects of these methods.

Thanks to the continuous advancement of technology as well as the tireless research and experiments done by health experts, diseases like leukemia have become curable.
